MAN THE LIFEBOATS:

What are the links between Essex and the Titanic?

Well plenty, as we found out when the Ray Clark Breakfast Show came live from Belfast on the 100th. anniversary of the sinking. Together with producer June we walked the streets of Belfast at 4am on the way to the city's Broadcasting House... and the Essex links? - Marconi and his radio, silks, woodwork, a brave priest, windows and greengage jam... they all came from Essex.

Together with producers Claire and June, BBC Essex sound man John Mac and bossman Big G we enjoyed an evening with Tom Jones, Gary Barlow and Jessie J.

The BBC's Northern Ireland correspondent, Mark Simpson joined in, together with environment coorespondent Mike McKimm who has actually been down to the Titanic wrecksite. We were also amongst the first  to visit the Belfast Titanic experience. Go to Belfast - it's brilliant.
