Welcome to my blog

Six months to the day .....

By raymondclark, Dec 22 2014 03:32PM

Since I retired from a daily show on the radio, time really does fly.

Am I missing it...?, yes, a little bit, but I've always thought it best to leave when you're winning ...although it can be frustrating to listen to some presenters when you know you can do a much better job - but then, I chose to retire and I've had a very good run for my money!!

However, I've been doing a few fun things, with a couple of pieces for my friends at KDKA in Pittsburgh. I've helped and advised with a piece for BBC World Service for Christmas Day and I was a guest on Tony Blackburn's Radio Berkshire programme - that was fun.

I've still got the option of doing programmes for various online radio stations and I have had some chats about doing cover work on a couple of radio stations in the New Year, and some kind invites to help at a couple of community stations .... or perhaps I should start my own online station ....well, let's see what 2015 brings ..... and the book seems to be selling really well ..... so much so that the publisher is interested in another ....but I'm not sure I know enough about anything to write another book.

Have a Happy Christmas - thanks for keeping in touch - and be happy in 2015.

Just started to read your book, very interesting indeed, I didn't realise there was a few other attempts to start pirate radio stations before Caroline came along!
Good luck with book.

Hi Ray, miss listening to you on BBC Essex. This week is nostalgic & enjoyable as Ian is doing the breakfast show & Steve the afternoon show. Will keep an eye on your blog so I do not miss you broadcasting anywhere. Merry Christmas to you and your family, I hope 2015 is good to you x

Hi Ray, I still listen to BBC Essex but miss you on the Breakfast Show, did ask Stuart Smith when he visited me where you had disappeared to, and he advised you had retired which was quite a shock as you didn't look/sound old enough.
I extend an invitation to you to come and visit us at BHR1287 (Basildon Hospital Radio) for a short interview? Between 1 -3pm I broadcast a 60s programme and very keen on Pirate Radio especially Caroline".
I found your site purely by accident and pleased that I did, it is a mine of information.
I wish you well for the future even though it looks as though you are doing alright. Happy New Year and best wishes to you and your family for 2015.
Jacqui James.
Chairman BHR1287.

I've just heard you'll be re-joining Caroline on Thursday afternoons from 7th May 2015. I look forward to listening on-line each week. Will you be broadcasting from the River Blackwater, or their Studio in Kent? Best of luck with the new show. I'm sure you'll fit in well.
